(PLTM) - Police Information Office - Press Release - June 3, 2024

On Friday, May 31, 2024, officers from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force conducted several search operations on Virgin Gorda as part of investigations into the attempted armed robbery at Leverick Bay Resort on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

Several search warrants were executed at multiple properties believed to be linked to the crime. Two individuals were arrested, and items of evidential value were seized.

During one of the searches, evidence was also uncovered linking a person of interest to large-scale cannabis cultivation on Virgin Gorda. This led officers to a series of cannabis fields in an area known as The Camp, where they uprooted approximately 3,500 fully-grown cannabis plants, destroyed around 4,000 seedlings, and seized various farming implements found at the scene. These actions represent a significant disruption to the activities of those believed to be involved in the attempted robbery.

The operations continued into Saturday, June 1, 2024, during which an additional individual was arrested for questioning.

All persons arrested were interviewed and subsequently discharged from custody pending further investigation.
