(PLTM) - Dr Robert “Storm” Wright has taken over the reins as the 32nd President of the Rotary Club of Road Town (RCRT) for the 2023/2024 Rotary Year.

Dr Wright takes over from Mr Gavin Dooley.

The ceremony was held on Saturday, 24 June 2023, marked this significant moment in the Club’s history. Dr Wright, a highly respected member of the RCRT, brings a wealth of experience, passion, and dedication to the principles of Rotary International.

A Paul Harris Fellow is a distinguished award that recognises individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and made significant contributions to their community. The RCRT chooses an individual in the community each year who is selfless in their vocation and exemplifies these qualities. It was, therefore, very fitting during this installation event to honour one of our community heroes, Mr Winston Potter, with the prestigious Community Paul Harris Fellow Award. Mr Potter’s untiring commitment to the young people of this territory through athletics made a lasting impact over many decades, which no doubt inspires all.

The RCRT also saw it fit to honour Mr Jamaal Hodge, the Director of Club Administration, as the Rotarian of the Year for the 2022-2023 Rotary Year. This recognition highlights Mr Hodge’s unwavering commitment, outstanding service and exemplary contributions to the Club’s mission and initiatives. In addition to these accolades, special awards were presented to Dooley (President) and Mr Ryan Geluk (Assistant Governor) for their tireless efforts and dedication to service above self.

Alongside Dr Wright, the Club’s incoming board members installed, comprise a diverse group of individuals committed to serving the community:

• President-Elect: Terrance Bogans • Immediate Past President: Gavin Dooley • Secretary: Gwenyth Vanterpool • Treasurer: Elvis Harrigan • Sergeant-at-Arms: Kadian Farquharson • Directors: Lavina Liburd, Mekel Weste, Janice Rymer, Greg Boyd, Emery Pemberton, and Alyssa Shepherd-Hodge.
