(PLTM) - Governor John Rankin swore in Hon. Ronnie Skelton as Leader of the Opposition this afternoon, April 27.
According to his Office, this follows the Elections held in the Territory on Monday 24 April 2023 and is in accordance with Section 70(2)(a) of the VI Constitution Order, 2007.

Leader of the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) Hon. Ronnie Skelton will be sworn in as Opposition Leader later this afternoon, April 27.
The announcement was made today during a joint press conference by PVIM, National Democratic Party (NDP) and Progressives United (PU).
The members agreed to have Hon. Skelton as the next Opposition Leader.
The new government is the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) led by Premier Hon. Natalio Wheatley. At the polls, VIP received six seats; PVIM-3; NDP-3; and PU-1.
However, before negotiations were concluded, NDP's Lorna Smith joined forces with the VIP which resulted in them having seven seats to form the new government.
