(PLTM) - The members of the next Virgin Islands Cabinet have been identified and among them is Ninth District Representative, Hon. Vincent Wheately, who had stepped down as Minister of Natural Resources Labour and Immigration to allow for the formation of the Government of National Unity.
Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley has not assigned ministerial portfolios just yet and will likely do so before an official inauguration ceremony for the new Government. As anticipated, the National Democratic Party's (NDP) Hon. Smith, a former First Lady, was sworn-in as Deputy Premier after brokering a deal earlier today to join with the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), ensuring the seven seats required to form the next Government following general elections on Monday, April 24.
Also taking the oath of Minister were, Hon. Kye Rymer, whose most recent appointment was Deputy Premier and Minister for Communication and Works in the Government of National Unity. Former Minister of Education, Hon. Sharie de Castro will return to the Cabinet in the new Government.
Additionally, taking the oath of office as Junior Ministers were first-time winners, Dr. Karl Dawson, First District-Elect and Luce Hodge-Smith, Fourth District-Elect.
Their portfolios are still to be assigned.
