(PLTM) - Mrs. Lorna Smith will be hanging up her hat as Executive Director of BVI Finance at the end of this month, and Ms. Elise Donovan will be replacing her.
Mrs. Smith made this announcement earlier today, January 18, during a quarterly meeting with media operatives.
It was back in July 2017 an announcement was made that Ms. Donovan would be replacing Mrs. Smith, who was appointed in May 2016.
Due to Hurricane Irma, this was postponed and Ms. Donovan took over as Interim Director of the BVI London Office (BVILO) in August last.
“I was retired from Government, and then I was called back for six months during the whole Panama Paper, Anti-Corruption Summit, a number of things were brewing,” Mrs. Smith said.
She continued, “I was asked to come back because they needed somebody to help BVI Finance for six months, and the six months turned into one year because we were trying to find the right person to head BVI Finance.”
Following the 2017 disasters, Mrs. Smith related that the decision was taken to have Ms. Donovan remain in London as it would be sensible to have her stay and “keep the market steady, happy, confident about BVI.”
She added that she will remain at BVI Finance for two weeks following Ms. Donovan’s takeover, so as to assist with the transition.
Mrs. Smith related that she will be returning to her role as Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LGS and Associates.
She has had a long history with BVI Finance, once serving as the Interim Director of BVI Asia House, as well as the first BVI Director of the London Office.
