(PLTM) - An unemployed Fahie Hill resident was today, September 19, granted $40,000 bail with signed surety for damaging a scooter that he took without the owner’s permission—later reportedly telling the owner that he only “borrowed it.”

Lesroy Osbourne shook his head in silence repeatedly in the Magistrate’s Court, when the two charges related to the matter were read to him.

According to the Prosecutor, on May 9, 2017, at Lower Estate, Tortola, the accused took the Yamaha Scooter valued $4,500 without permission from the complainant—Kadeem Farara.

The second charge alleged that on the same day in question, he damaged said scooter either recklessly or intentionally.

It was explained that on the day of both incidents, at about 14:00 hours, the complainant parked his scooter in their workshop yard, and left. On his way back to the workshop, he saw the accused on a scooter resembling his, and upon making checks realised it was missing.

His father, Ronald Farara, then proceeded to Osbourne’s apartment to retrieve the scooter when he saw the accused on the way. When he attempted to confront Osbourne, the accused tried to escape twice—toppling over with the scooter twice.

He then returned to the workshop with the scooter, telling the owner “I didn’t rob it, I just borrowed it.” When the complainant attempted to stop Osbourne from leaving, the accused reportedly initiated a fight.

It was upon inspecting the scooter later that Farara saw the scratches and broken parts, and later lodged a police report.
