(PLTM) - Mrs Heather Cuff MBE, the widow of the late John Cuff passed away on Wednesday 10th July, 2018 at the age of 86, at her home at Belmont Estate, Tortola.

Mrs Cuff lived in the BVI for more than forty years and was one of the pillars of the community, directly and indirectly supporting a number of local charities.

In 2004 she was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for her outstanding services to Her Majesty’s Prison for over fifteen years.

Mrs Cuff was appointed to serve as Chairman of the Prison’s Visiting Committee, which she visited weekly, meeting with the prisoners and to the extent that she could, responding to their needs. Her interest in the welfare of the prisoners extended to their families – especially their children, in whom she maintained a special interest during their parent’s sojourn in prison.

As a citizen of the BVI, Mrs Cuff maintained a keen interest in all aspects of her adopted home, attending public meetings, giving her voice and her support to causes that would advance the welfare of the territory.

She was always regarded as ‘leader’ of the community in which she lived because of her empathy, her thoughtfulness, her compassion and generosity.

She leaves to mourn her family, including Jane Barnes and Bill Cuff, her nephew Paul Ross, as well as numerous grandchildren, extended family and friends in the BVI and internationally.

Funeral services for Mrs Cuff will be announced shortly.
