(PLTM) - Opposition Leader, Hon. Andrew Fahie said that he is tired of the insults which are hurled at him by government members, during sittings of the House of Assembly.

Hon. Fahie made the comments during last week’s sitting of the House, where he was being interrupted by some members of the House while he was pressing Premier Hon. Dr. D. Orlando Smith with questions.

“The people probably wouldn’t hear on the outside, but the government keeps telling what is nonsense and what’s not. I am trying to do my job in here. I don’t trouble anybody; I does sit down over here, I does listen to even when they jumping on me for things,” he lamented.

Hon. Fahie, who was asking questions regarding the issuance of trade licenses continued, “I don’t interrupt them, I trying to do my job. My question I asked on behalf of the people is list the type of businesses that were approved for non-belongers; is it construction, boat sailing?”

He said that the questions were on the Order Paper.

“It’s in the questions, nothing new. Nothing I should be fishing for and somebody giving me insulting remarks.”

Premier Smith then read out the list in the House of Assembly.

Also, during the question and answer session, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Ingrid Moses-Scatliffe cautioned Hon. Fahie that he is only allowed two supplementary questions for each main question. She asked that he abide by the rules of the House.

“We must also have an obligation to this House and to the people if we are going to stick with everything to come with factual answers,” Hon. Fahie said in response.

He added, “That’s also a key and also because it isn’t only the follow ups, every rule known to man this morning here getting up, getting up, I can’t get no question asked.”

The Opposition Leader believes that the government does not want to be accountable.

“So, what they want to do, just run the people’s business and you don’t get to ask nothing over here. You cannot ask no question and under Other Business you are going to be limited.”

He asked, “So what are we coming here for?”
