(PLTM) - Wakanda Fever descended on UPs Cineplex on March 9, as hundreds of persons attended the premiere of Black Panther.
Telecommunications provider, Flow, in collaboration with the cineplex owner, Mr. Elton Leonard, Road Town Wholesale and Firebird Dance Studios, hosted a Wakanda themed Cocktail Hour in grand style to welcome patrons and set the atmosphere for an enjoyable movie experience.
Since its release on February 16, Black Panther has grossed over $1 billion in global box office sales. According to Disney, the film has grossed $521 million in North America, and is the No. 2 record-breaking super-hero release of all time.
With a record number of ticket sales over the weekend, Flow Country Manager, Colin MacDonald noted that the company was pleased to have partnered with the management of UPs Cineplex for its reopening and the premiere of a movie that is exploding in box offices throughout the world.
He said, “This was an amazing opportunity to help bring the British Virgin Islands community together and celebrate the reopening of the cineplex as the Territory continues to make strides with its recovery.”
The Country Manager added that Flow is delighted with the response to the premiere and looks forward to a continued partnership with UPs Cineplex.
Flow will also be hosting an online Best African Attire competition, featuring qualifying persons who attended the cocktail hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on March 9.
The public is invited to visit the Flow Facebook page to cast their votes for the Best Attire. Voting will open on Wednesday, March 14 and close at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19.
The winner will receive a cash prize and tickets to upcoming movie events.
