(PLTM) - Next Thursday, the Premier will have to tell residents his government's plans to arrest the current spike in gun related crimes.
At the March 1 sitting of the House of Assembly, Opposition Leader, Hon. Andrew Fahie will ask Premier Hon. Dr. D. Orlando Smith to inform the House, in detail, of the government's plans on how they intend to address the on-going increase of serious crimes in the Territory.
Hon. Fahie, who has publicly spoken out against the crime situation, and also offered a few solutions, will ask Premier Smith to state how much of the $65 million Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) loan will be allotted to the security agencies.
The First District Representative is set to ask Premier Smith, given the rise in serious crime, how much funding will be allotted in the Recovery/Development Plan to adequately allow the law enforcement agencies to address crime and respond to emergencies.
Those agencies are the Royal Virgin Islands Police; Her Majesty's Customs; the Immigration Department; and the Fire Department, as well as other law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
