(PLTM) - General Manager for the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC), Mr. Leroy Abraham has said that restoration of electricity on Tortola is about 98 percent complete, and full power restoration Territory-wide will be completed by next month.

Mr. Abraham said the corporation has also completed 95 percent of its work on Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke.

According to the BVIEC General Manager, restoration works are expected to be completed in a few weeks with March being earmarked for full restoration of electricity to the Territory.

Mr. Abraham explained that the completion of reconnections is contingent on the arrival of materials.

“We’ve been awaiting transformers and most of the overhead main distribution has been built with preparations for the transformers already being made. Thankfully, Transformers arrived today (February 17) and they’ve been just dispatched so that we can start installing easily,” the General Manager said.

Customers in the following areas are asked to make preparations for reconnection: Belmont Estate, Steele Point, Little Thatch, Windy Hill, Romney Park, Havers Estate,Tredfall, Doty Estate, Shannon Estate, Sage Mountain, Luck Hill, Brewers Bay, Mount Healty, Georges North Side, Fat Hog’s Bay, Paraquita Bay, Hodge’s Creek, and Sophie Bay.

Mr. Abraham said residents should seek the professional advice of a certified electrical inspector, and home and property owners should ensure that all generators are disconnected from the main electrical line in preparation for reconnection.

He is calling on the public for its cooperation as this ensures the safety of residents and that of the linesmen.
