(PLTM) - The OECS Education Development Management Unit and CXC-Notesmaster, have committed to providing Post-Disaster Support Programme for islands affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria, including the BVI.

To this end, Regional Manager of NotesMaster, Mr. Damon Clarke is in the Territory conducting a three-day workshop at the Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies, with senior school teachers, senior students, and personnel within the Ministry of Education.

Hon. Myron Walwyn, Minister of Education and Culture, said that the intention of the workshop is to put in place a digital support network, linking teachers, schools and students to each other and to their neighbours in the OECS and with CXC.

"This is all part of our plans to move towards the integration of technology in the teaching and learning process. I am pleased that our plans for this were well advanced ahead of Hurricane Irma as this will prove invaluable, since the physical part of our education system was compromised," the Minister told BVI Platinum News.

Notesmaster is a free accessible e-learning platform for Open Educational Resources and was founded in the Caribbean. The platform gives teachers and students access to CVQ, CSEC and CAPE resources shared on the platform.

Teachers also have the ability to create their own resources for immediate access by students and colleagues.

Senior students were introduced to the platform on Wednesday, November 1st.
