(PLTM) - Charmaine Rosan-Bunbury, former Magistrate and opposition Virgin Islands Party (VIP) At-Large candidate, is fighting for her life after being diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by her family, Rosan-Bunbury was recently diagnosed with the cancer, which is the most common invasive cancer in women, and the second main cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer.

The family is seeking to raise $50,000 for the Attorney-at-Law and mother of three. As of last evening, some $370.00 was raised.

"Charmaine Rosan-Bunbury, a wife, and mother of 3 lovely boys -18, 13 & 7, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. On Sunday, October 1st, she started spasming at home due to severe back pain," it was explained via the page.

It further detailed that the ambulance was called and she was taken to the hospital, where a cat scan later that evening, revealed legions on her spine and an indication that the cancer had now spread to her bones.

According to her family, Charmaine's treatment is three prong - radiation, chemotherapy and neurological due to the damage to her spine.

"Her insurance coverage is 80% of her treatment, leaving this young family to figure out the other 20%. At this stage, we are not sure of costs involved for treatment and so we are hoping to raise at least $50,000.00 to help this family cope financially."

Charmaine was described as a wonderful person and a kind soul, who deserves every chance to raise her children and be with her family.

"Every little bit counts and so we are asking that you give whatever you can to help in her treatment and recovery. Thanking you in advance for your kind donation."

Opposition Leader and VIP Chairman, Hon. Andrew Fahie offered a word of hope to Rosan-Bunbury, who was on the party’s ticket during the June 2015 election campaign.

“I stand united with my sister and friend in this difficult moment and I want her to never lose faith in God because nothing is too hard or impossible for Him to do,” he told BVI Platinum News.

He said, “With God’s help we will soon kill cancer so that our people can continue to live a long and healthy life.”

This month is observed as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
