(PLTM) - The BVI's 2017 Calypso Monarch, Eustace ‘Boss’ Freeman is in Anguilla, preparing to represent his homeland in the Leeward Islands Calypso competition.

The competition, which takes place tomorrow, Saturday, August 12, will see 8 countries vying for the title.

"I do not really know what to expect. It's the first time being here as a calypsonian, so I am really humbled by the opportunity. Looking forward to having some fun while representing the BVI. I promise to give nothing less than my best," Boss, who goes by the stage name ‘Colosso’, told BVI Platinum News.

Boss mentioned that being in Anguilla is bitter sweet, because of the current state of the BVI following the flood.

"It's tough being away now following the recent devastation, knowing that my community needs help ," Boss lamented.

He said that he will be performing 'Mr. Politician' and 'Foundation' during the show.

Boss was crowned the Territory's Calypso King on August 2, following a clean sweep of all the awards.

He has also vowed to return the junior calypso shows.

"We have work to do in getting it where we want it to be. We have to involve our youths. I look forward to championing that whole campaign and getting into the schools. Hopefully, we will get a turnaround," he had previously related.
