(PLTM) - As the Territory recovers from damages caused by a Tropical Wave earlier this week, another one is fast approaching.

The Department of Disaster Management (DDM), guided by information from the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services, disclosed that the Tropical Wave, Invest 99L/Disturbance 1, is expected in the area later today, August 10, or early tomorrow.

The Wave was identified to be approximately 250 miles east north east of the northern Leeward Islands, moving on a northwestward track towards the British Virgin Islands.

According to DDM, showers and thunderstorms associated with the disturbance have become a little better organized during the evening.

Once over the Territory, Invest 99L can produce periods of increased cloudiness, with a high chance for scattered showers and a moderate chance for isolated thunderstorms.

Predictions also state that the showers can be moderate to locally heavy at times and the conditions are expected to linger across the area into Friday.

Thereafter, dry and stable conditions are expected to return to the area as a high pressure ridge becomes dominant once again.

DDM continues to monitor this system and will provide updates when they become available.

Persons are encouraged to be prepared.
