(PLTM) - There has been a significant increase in cases of missing dinghies across the Territory. In light of this, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has issued a cautious reminder to boat and dingy owners, to secure their vessels.
“Police are reminding boat and dinghy owners to consistently lock and secure their vessels to docks and yachts, as theft of these items are beginning to rise,” a release issued today, July 20, from the RVIPF stated.
Charter boat companies are also urged to instruct visitors and guests to do the same.
The force disclosed that during the last couple of days, a number of reports were made of missing dinghies that were originally docked at marinas in Road Town and Cane Garden Bay.
It was also noted that during the summer months, reports of this nature tend to rise.
Police is also encouraging parents and guardians to monitor their children’s activities.
“Parents and guardians are encouraged to ensure that youngsters are engaged in wholesome activities during their vacation. Premises should be searched regularly for any strange or unexplained items.”
