(PLTM) - Opposition Leader, Hon. Andrew Fahie has called on the National Democratic Party (NDP) to be forthright with the people of the BVI in many financial matters including the issues surrounding BVI Airways.

Hon. Fahie in a brief statement hours after BVI Airways announced that due to financial problems they were forced to lay off the entire flight crew, said that if the government intends to fix the airlift problem, it needs to be truthful.

"If we are going to be asked to fix this problem we must be given the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth."

Mentioning the lyrics from a popular local song, 'millions and millions and more', Hon. Fahie said, "this is an ongoing pattern of reckless and irresponsible financial management that can only be directed to one office. This entire situation will be examined further."

The Opposition Leader reiterated that government has spent over $13M to help address the airlift problem, but nothing to show for it.

"This is serious! This is no joke! Over $13 million dollars and what will we have to show -- no airport extension -- no direct flights -- no transparency-- no accountability but the continuous hemorrhaging of the already scarce Territory's finances."

He added, "how much are the people prepared to suffer? It is quite amazing! Questions have been asked over and over in the House of Assembly about the contract in question but usually no answers but always insults."

Earlier this month, Hon. Fahie had stated that it appears a cow will fly over the moon before the flights commence.
