This year’s Miss British Virgin Islands Pageant contestants left persons impressed, after competing in the first ever Miss BVI Swimsuit Competition, yesterday, July 15, at Peter Island Resort.
This 2017 pageant contestants are Genesis Richards, A’Yana Phillips, Tecora Morgan, Helina Hewlet, Lean Tamika Francis and Khephora Sylvester.
The contestants competed in three segments, which judged their fitness and physique, deportment, fit of the swimsuit, and overall presence on stage. All segments combined, amounted to 50 points.
(PLTM) - In the first segment, the girls hit the stage in swimwear designs of local swimsuit company, The Islander. The second segment saw them strutting the runway in signature pieces by Trefle.
In the final segment, which was the most anticipated, the contestants had the opportunity to showcase their artistic side, by designing and bringing to life their own piece.
This creative piece will also be worn on the night of the grand show, on August 6, at the Multi Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town. The winner of the swimsuit competition will also be announced on that evening.
As noted by Ms. Alicia Hamm, Chairperson of the show, the swimsuit appearance will not be judged on the night of the show.
She noted that the night will be one of excitement, adding that it’s going to be a very tough competition.
