(PLTM) - The BVI Football Association (BVIFA) has already begun to record sound remarks and commendations on the construction of the Greenland Stadium, more so, the football pitch, which has already been completed.

Visiting coaches from Champion Sports International, an England based company, highlighted the beauty and endurance of the field, noting that the overall finish of the stadium will be spectacular.

“The pitch is amazing,” said Dan Neville, one of the visiting coaches, who added, “When you use grass it wears out, but this artificial surface has made things perfect.”

The coaches’ visit to the BVI saw them facilitating a football camp, organized by the BVIFA.

The camp, which ended sometime last week, saw nearly 100 boys and girls participating.

Neville said, “The youngsters showed great attitude, the willingness to try new things and the commitment. Even at the end of the long hot days, they are still raring to go. They have been great to coach.”

He stated that he sees great partnership in the future, with teams coming out of the BVI and local players travelling to England for further coaching, and the chance of being spotted by scouts from clubs.

BVIFA President, Andy Bickerton was also impressed with the outcome of the camp.

“It has been tremendous to see so many youngsters coming out every day and it has been a wonderful opportunity for them. The attitude has been very positive and if we can maintain this and build upon the achievements, then the player pathway to senior levels will be there.”

Bickerton also noted that the coaches from England highlighted that there was tremendous improvement in the technique of the players.

“Now we have this facility and youngsters have a good surface to play on, and we maintain our programmes, then, although we have a way to go to catch up with other countries, the future will be bright.”
