(PLTM) - Police have arrested and charged a native of Jamaica, in connection with the shooting incident in Fort Hill last month.

Nickail Chambers, 26, who is also a Belonger, and resides at Lower Estate, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm with intent to injure. This charge stems from gunshots fired in Fort Hill on June 22.

Police said that they have also charged Selroy Hanley, 28, of Purcell Estate, with unlawful possession of ammunition. Police did not indicate if this charge is related to the Fort Hill incident.

Hanley, Chambers and Owen Chambers, 52, father of Nickail, were also charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to supply to another, after search warrants executed at their respective homes uncovered the drugs.

Hanley was charged additionally with unlawful possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

According to police, these firearm-related arrests are a result of ongoing efforts by the Royal Virgin Islands Police to detain persons seen with, suspected of having or importing illegal firearms into the Territory.
