(PLTM) - The Ebenezer Thomas Primary School is gearing up to host an exhibit and presentation, showcasing the culture, traditions, general information and national emblems of Australia.

The presentation, slated for Monday, July 3, at the school’s compound in Sea Cows Bay, is a part of a cultural exchange programme between the local school and a school based in Australia.

The exchange is being conducted in commemoration of the Queen’s Baton Relay, and the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The presentation will occur during the local relay of the Queen’s Baton, which is scheduled to make its way to the school after several stops in Road Town. It will then travel to Nanny Cay, to continue the local relay, after the presentation at the school.

At the games in April 2018, in Gold Coast, Australia, a group of students will host an exhibition and presentation of the culture, traditions, general information and national emblems of the British Virgin Islands.

President of the BVI Olympic Committee and the BVI Commonwealth Games Association, Mr. Ephraim Penn said, “The Ebenezer Thomas Primary is paired with a school in Australia in a cultural exchange programme. Both schools try to get more culture and experience of the other country from the schools they are paired with, and then plan an exhibition and presentation of their findings.”

The Queen's Baton is set to arrive in the BVI on July 1, but will officially be handed over to the Territory on Monday, July 3.

A host of events around the Territory are being organized to celebrate the auspicious occasion.

The baton will leave for Jamaica on the morning of Wednesday, July 5.
