(PLTM) - A woman was quickly transported to the Peebles Hospital for urgent medical attention, after being struck down by a pick-up truck earlier today, June 26.

The accident occurred in the vicinity of the pedestrian crossing on Fleming Street, adjacent BVI Flow’s flagship store.

According to eyewitnesses, BVI Platinum News understands that the woman, who was at the time utilizing the pedestrian crossing to cross the road, was knocked several feet away from the crossing.

The pick-up truck, bearing license plate PF-12, was noted to be driving at a speed, with insufficient time to avoid the impact.

The extent of the victim’s injuries are unknown at this time.

Police are currently on scene conducting an investigation into the matter.
