(PLTM) - Eight young athletes are set to represent the British Virgin Islands over the coming weekend, June 17-18, in Trinidad, at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Athletic Association Age Group Championships.
The representatives will be divided into two groups, where persons between the ages of 11-12 will compete in the Pentathlon event, which includes a 60m race, high jump, ball throw, long jump, and an 800m and 100m race, while persons between the ages of 13-14 will compete in the Heptathlon event, which includes an 80m, 1000m and 1200m race, long jump, shot put, 60m and 80m hurdles, high jump and ball throw.
The BVI Team comprises of Akeela McMaster, Aniya Findlay, Delano Hodge and Kishawn Martin, for the Penthalon; and Ariyah Smith, Azariah Christopher, Malaki Smith and Jelani Croal for the Hepthalon.
The local officials that will accompany the young athletes are Ericca Frederick, Omar Jones, Erwin Telemaque and Burt Dorsett.
