(PLTM) - BVI track star, Khari Herbert has earned the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II All-American Honors, following his performance at Division II Championships in Bradenton, Florida, last month, May 2017. Herbert, who is currently a senior at St. Augustine University, anchored the university’s relay team to victory, summing up enough points for them to win their 5th NCAA Division II title. He also finished third in the 400m at the meet, with a time of 46.10s, 6 seconds shy of the 38 year-old BVI 400m record. Herbert is currently the only member of the 2017 team to be a part of four successive championship wins. Other local athletes to compete in the Division II championships were Tynelle and Trevia Gumbs, both juniors at the University of Findlay. Unfortunately, both were knocked out of the competition due to injuries. Tynelle currently ranks 7th in the Discus category in the NCAA Division II competition, with a throw of 165ft and 9 inches. She also ranks 8th across the nation in the Hammer Throw with a throw of 194ft and 7 inches.
