(PLTM) - As the medical field in the Virgin Islands continue to advance, with more and more practitioners offering outpatient and inpatient care, Minister of Health and Social Development, Hon. Ronnie Skelton has sent out what he deems a reminder to the public, that Peebles Hospital should be their first stop in any medical situation. The Minister was at the time speaking at an event held at the public hospital in Road Town.
“Don’t stop any place else if something happens to you. It’s very important, don’t let nobody fool, this is your first stop.”
He said, “Even if you have the greatest insurance in your back pocket, this is the place to come.”
Minister Skelton stressed that in order to properly take care of the people in the Virgin Islands, the facilities, equipment and services at Peebles Hospital should be top notch, in order to compete with the private sector.
“It is important that we build the public facilities here in the Virgin Islands. I know the private sector is doing their utmost best to keep up with us. We must work tirelessly to access proper care and facilities.”
He said, “It is important to continue raising funds so we can continue the outfitting of the facilities. We want to do a lot of great things here. We continue, so that when anything happens to you, Peebles is your first stop. It’s our job to make sure that you are well and properly taken care of and that with the facilities at Peebles, we can assist our people in staying alive and healthy."
