(PLTM) - Crown and title winner of the 2016 Miss Jr. BVI pageant, Ms. Joi-Ann Thomas, has stepped down as the reigning queen, and has since handed over the title and crown to her 2nd runner-up, Ms. Dje'Moyia Smith. BVI Platinum News understands that Thomas, who won the title and four other segments in the show staged last July, has stepped down from the role some months now. BVI Platinum News contacted Ms. Malcia Thomas, organizer of the pageant, who confirmed that Thomas has indeed stepped down from her role as reigning queen. Chairperson Thomas refrained from highlighting the reasons behind Thomas’ decision to step down, noting that it was for personal reasons. “For personal reasons, that’s why she did it. I cannot say anything beyond that.” BVI Platinum News also understands that the 1st runner-up in the pageant, Ms. Dyese Turnbull, declined from taking up the tittle. Chairperson Thomas noted that from here onward, Smith will serve as reigning queen until the next staging of the pageant, set for the coming months. Attempts to contact Thomas were unsuccessful. Her chaperone, Mr. Darryl Flanders also refused to comment on the reasons behind her decision.
