(PLTM) - Arthur DeCastro, a 61 year-old BVIslander, was charged after police allegedly caught him in the act, dealing illegal substances that were hidden under a table.

The accused appeared before the Magistrate's Court, charged with possession of a controlled drug, namely 0.6 grams of cannabis, and possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply, namely 6.1 grams of cocaine.

According to the details surrounding this matter, on February 2, in the vicinity of Fish Lock road, police on patrol observed a male walking into an establishment. They also stopped to speak with the accused, who was seated at a table.

Following the brief conversation, the officers observed the accused taking a bag from beneath the table. He allegedly took something out and gave it to the other male. The male also allegedly handed DeCastro something, which was identified to be cash.

As a result of a search conducted by the officers, a paper bag containing several transparent bags was reportedly found under the table.

DeCastro allegedly told the officers, "You ain't find that on me."

He will make another appearance on June 23 to respond to the charges laid against him.
