(PLTM) - Police has released a suspect in the murder of Jefferson Joseph, 41, who was brutally gunned down early Sunday morning, April 16, in the area of CSY Dock.

According to the local force, one man was detained and questioned by police in relation to the matter, but has since been released.

Police investigations reveal that the deceased, along with a female companion, left a nightclub in the area, and were about to leave in his vehicle when the shots were fired.

Joseph, of Mountain Valley, Huntums Ghut, was pronounced dead at the scene, while his female companion was treated at the Peebles Hospital and later discharged.

As police investigations into the matter continue, persons of the public are encouraged to come forward with any information that can assist.

Persons with information can contact the Major Crime Team directly at 368-5682 or the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.

Joseph was a few months ago released from prison and was scheduled to stand trial in the High Court over allegations that he incited the murder of Melbourne 'Trouble' Francis.

It is alleged that he offered Andrae Norford, 23, $13,000 to take out Francis. Norford is charged with the murder of Francis.

Francis was fatally wounded on the night of May 9, 2013, where police found his body with multiple gunshot wounds upon arrival at the scene around 8:00 pm that evening.
