(PLTM) - Local swimming sensation, Elinah Phillip came in second in the 50 meter butterfly race at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships in Nassau, Bahamas, earlier this evening, April 16.

Elinah ended the race with a new personal best time of 28.13s.

Going into the finals, she managed to break an 8 year old record of 28.72s, with a new record of 28.47.

Elinah's participation at the meet continues, as she prepares for the 100m freestyle tomorrow, April 17, and the 50m freestyle on Tuesday, April 18.

At the meet, Elinah is competing against athletes from 26 different countries.

Elinah was most recently the 3rd fastest female sprinter from the Caribbean region at last summer's Rio Olympic Games at 16 years of age.
