(PLTM) - The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has formally charged two men, who were found with a high-powered rifle and a quantity of ammunition on-board a St. Vincent registered cargo vessel named ‘Tenacity’, earlier this year in January, while it was docked at Port Purcell.

The men, who are currently being detained by police, are Lee Martin (boat captain), 66, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, and Mitchell Warren (first mate), 43, of St. Vincent and The Grenadines.

Both are facing charges of unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

The two will make an appearance at the Magistrate’s Court at the next available date.

Commenting on the matter, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Michael Matthews stated that he is delighted that another dangerous and high-powered weapon has been taken off the streets of the Virgin Islands.
