11-12 Boys compete in the 60m dash, the first of five events

Four athletes from the British Virgin Islands have already qualified for this year’s Carifta Games, scheduled to go down in Curacao from April 13-18.
The athletes are Beyonce DeFreitas - 100m, Arianna Hayde – Javelin, D’Andre Mitchum - High Jump and Dijimon Gumbs – Discus.
As noted by the BVI Athletics Association, the body is working assiduously with other athletes on improving their times and distances.
The other athletes on the verge of qualifying for the premier Caribbean sporting event are Zakhariah Frett at 12.06 and Zara Brown at 12.04 in the 100m. The qualifying mark is 12.03.
Diamante Gumbs is attempting to mark a distance of 15.75m in the Shot Put discipline. He is currently at 15.03m.
Rikkoi Brathwaite is attempting to qualify in two disciplines, namely the 100m and the 200m. In the 100m Brathwaite, who clocks a time of 10.77 is attempting to reach the qualifying time of 10.65. In the 200m, he is also trying to improve his time of 21.77 to the qualifying mark of 21.60.
