(PLTM) - Rondell Calliste, 22, was fined $700 following his guilty plea to a charge of common assault. Calliste appeared before the Magistrate’s Court earlier today, March 15.
The court also instructed that he has until the end of April 2017 to pay the fine, or he will serve two months in prison.
According to court records, the charge stems from an incident which occurred on May 29, 2016 in East End.
Court records indicate that while using his car to drive a female to the laundry and then back to her home, the two had a tense exchange of words. While exiting Calliste’s car, the court heard that the complainant slammed the car door shut. This aggravated the accused, who was already irate.
The accused allegedly left the vehicle, approached the female and punched her at the back of her head, causing her to fall to the ground.
The accused then allegedly took her purse from the ground and fled the scene. The purse contained $100.
When the complainant arrived at her home, the purse was seen on the wall of her porch.
Speaking with officers, the accused denied ever hitting the female at the back of her head with his fist, but rather, he stated that he pushed her at the back of her head, which caused her to fall, then he left the area.
