Reverend Dr. Melvin Turnbull

(PLTM) - In a prayer designated for leaders of government, persons of the Territory were encouraged to step up and reclaim their rightful positions as heads and true leaders of the Territory.

The prayer, recited by Reverend Dr. Melvin Turnbull at a recent thanksgiving and intercession to pray for the future and safekeeping of the Territory, also challenged the leaders of the Territory to remember where they came from, how they got where they are, and specifically, who put them there.

“I pray for every member of government, let them know that you are still God. I pray what you did to Israel, you wont have to do to us. Sometimes we think the government elected is in charge, but we the people are the true government. We have elected them, but we have failed to hold them accountable.”

Dr. Turnbull added, “Lord we ask for forgiveness for being passive, bribed, ashamed and afraid. We pray that as a people and as a nation, we remember our roots. We call on you and put our trust in you.”

The Reverend went on to speak about the behavior of the current leaders of the Territory, noting that a change of heart is needed.

“Lord, remind members of the House of Assembly that a house divided cannot stand. I pray for leadership. So often we believe we know how to do it. I pray you remind them, that except the Lord builds the house, they live in vain.”

He continued, “You’ve reminded us over and over again that righteousness exalts the nations, but sin is a reproach for any people. You have indicated in your words that we are not fit to be in authority if we fail to be under authority; and so we submit ourselves to you. I know for some it’s just an exercise.”
