(PLTM) - Music is certainly one avenue for artistes to express various views on topical issues in the community, but no topic is currently more popular than the resignation of Bishop John I. Cline as Chairman of the Health Services Authority Board, and with that, a song has emerged.
Through social media, the song is quickly gathering popularity and many persons have speculated the singer to be a local lead vocalist. However, when contacted, the alleged singer denied the claims.
Matched with a vibrant and cultural rhythm, the song starts off at the heart of the entire debacle and adds a familiar colloquial splendor with the lyrics, which are relatable among residents.
The song's lyrics are woven around the line, “A pastor and a doctor get in a confrontation; next thing you know, it reach pon de radio station...de pastor lose he job the next day." At one point, a verse mentions, "Don’t ever disrespect the doctor."
Premier of the Territory, Hon. Dr. D. Orlando Smith and former Chairman of the BVI Health Services Authority, Bishop Cline shared some disagreements, which resulted in Cline’s resignation.
As previously reported by BVI Platinum News, Bishop Cline’s resignation stemmed from comments he made publicly, stating that the National Democratic Party (NDP) should shift the Ministry of Finance portfolio from the party leader, Premier Smith, and other comments highlighting his disapproval with the controversial airport expansion project.
