(PLTM) - Officials are tight-lipped on the findings of the fire in September that destroyed Hazem's shoe store on Waterfront Drive.

When contacted to ascertain whether the investigations were completed and if it was determined accidental or arson, Fire Chief, Mr. Zebalon Mclean disclosed that his department has since completed the reports and handed them over to the owner, insurance company and the police force.

"I cannot comment on this incident, save to say that our fire officers did a fantastic job," he told BVI Platinum News on January 5.

Police spokeswoman, Ms. Diane Drayton when contacted said, "All I can say at this point is the matter is still under investigation."

On September 6, 2016, fire officers were called to the scene around 1:52 am where the northern side of the building was already under high flames.

Fire officers controlled the fire, stopped it from spreading and eventually extinguished it.

At the time, the public was thanked for alerting the department quickly. Mclean had noted that had it been any later, the entire building might have been lost.
