(PLTM) - The governing National Democratic Party (NDP) is quickly losing grip of its internal affairs with recent confidential correspondence from a party stalwart lambasting the party's 11 elected members, making its way into the public domain. Copies of the letter, written in late November, are being widely circulated.

"There is nothing that anybody can do me," said the writer behind the letter, former government minister and cultural icon, Ms. Eileene Parsons.

She told BVI Platinum News, "I commented on something that I saw because I am interested in keeping the NDP where they are, and somebody in the administration building made a copy and circulated it...Whatever goes in there (government complex) drains out."

Parsons, who came across peeved over the leak, noted that she will not be going into the content of the letter because it was confidential.

In the letter being circulated, Parsons expressed concerns over the state of the Territory, and even suggested that the portfolio of the Ministry of Finance be moved from Premier Hon. Dr. Orlando Smith and over to the Health Minister, Hon. Ronnie Skelton, who in the past served in the capacity.

Parsons also slammed the lack of leadership of the party, speaking to body politic and noting that she understands the 11 elected members are already working hard to manage the country's affairs, but the party is in need of serious leadership.

"We cannot expect you to also manage the affairs of the body politic. For years it has been known and sho-shoed that the party needs leadership and more serious leadership," Parsons stated.

She said that if the NDP bunch intends to be elected again, they need an organization with some modicum structure, which she said has been lacking for some time now.

She asked that they mend whatever is needed to be mended.

The leader of the NDP is Premier Smith and Chairman is Mr. Louis Potter.

Meanwhile, Ms Parsons told BVI Platinum News that she is not ashamed of the contents of the letter, but questioned the level of disloyalty in the BVI and the fact that nothing is private.

"My colleagues are now responsible for how it got out because I sent it to them privately, marked personal/confidential and now which of their workers copied it and passed it around...They need to find that out," she said.

"I have nothing to say because I am so amazed that loyalty has gone out the door in the BVI...Whatever in the letter people can interpret it how they want...Because it is frightening that there is no loyalty among the people who work for the NDP government...They are undermining Dr. Smith's government every step of the way," she stated.

She went on to state, "It wasn't anything for the public eye; not that I am ashamed of anything in it. It is amazing there is nothing private in my country anymore."
