Gunmen targeted Fine Food Supermarket located in Long Look late this evening, Old Year's night, December 31, 2016.

According to information, armed masked men entered the supermarket and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Information suggests that no injuries have been reported.

More details will be provided as information becomes available.

In recent months police have been grappling with gun crimes, including several robberies.

This is the third robbery on a business establishment within a month in the East End/Long Look area.

On November 24, three armed masked men robbed Riteway Supermarket's East End branch; and on December 2, the owner of the Lubricant Store in Vanterpool Estate, Long Look was shot and injured in an attempted robbery.

Police Commissioner, Michael Matthews has called on persons to come forward and assist police with any information. He also pleaded with the community to call him directly with information.

Police have been encouraging business owners to pay close attention to their surroundings, especially during late night operating and closing hours, and remove cash from premises regularly. Business owners should also alternate the times that cash is removed from business premises.

Anyone who has information that could be helpful with any of the RVIPF investigations is asked to contact the Intelligence Unit at 368-9339. Persons can also report the information requested anonymously to Crimestoppers through its Miami-based hotline number 800-TIPS (8477).
