(PLTM) - Caribbean Cellars, Ltd. has announced the promotion of Kevin Fahie to the position of General Manager, effective December 1,2016.

Fahie joined the company in March of 2013 as its Sales and Marketing Coordinator and has since worked his way around the company as its Marketing Manger, Commercial Manager and now its General Manager.

As the GM, Fahie will oversee the Caribbean Cellars team of 25 employees. He replaces Robert Knock, a UK national who led the Caribbean Cellars team for two years, as part of the company’s succession plan to support the identification, hiring and training of local talent to lead the company.

President of Caribbean Cellars Richard Berry, said Fahie’s overall experience with the company had prepared him for its leadership role. “Kevin’s performance in sales, helping to maximise brand awareness and his excellent record of customer relations has proven that he is a valuable asset to Caribbean Cellars’ success and that he also understands the vision and the direction of the company.”

Speaking of the strategic efforts of Caribbean Cellars to ensure its long-term success, Berry said, “As an organisation, Caribbean Cellars Ltd remains committed to supporting the development of the Virgin Islands through hiring and advanced training of enthusiastic and motivated Virgin Islanders such as Kevin.” Fahie’s promotion is the company’s sixth internal promotion in less than two years.

Knock acted as the company’s temporary General Manager for the past two years, driving the development and growth of the organisation, while working closely with and supporting Fahie’s permanent development into the General Manager role.

As Caribbean Cellars’ GM, Fahie will now focus on leading the company’s growing team to new opportunities in the Virgin Islands market, planning for the company’s future, as well as overseeing its financial fitness.

Fahie started his career in 2006 as a Marketing Coordinator for the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California, before becoming a Sales Representative for BE Marketing Concepts in Orange County, California. With a desire to return home to the Virgin Islands, in 2011 Fahie became a Beverage Brand Manager for Road Town Wholesale and later one of its Sales and Marketing Manager before joining the Caribbean Cellars team.

Fahie is also a member of the Rotary Club of Tortola and President of the National Democratic Party’s Youth Movement.

Caribbean Cellars will be utilising Knock’s extensive and experienced background in the Wine and Spirits industry, having worked with brand owners such as Moet Hennessy, Grupo Codorniu and Constellation to manage and grow its wine range, retail store and infrastructure projects which Fahie will oversee.
