(PLTM) - The first leg of the movement for a better Virgin Islands has now been completed with the selection of a new executive team to lead the main opposition Virgin Islands Party (VIP) into the next general elections. This is according to its new Chairman Hon. Andrew Fahie, who has announced that the party will be opening a headquarters in the coming weeks.

"In a few weeks we will be opening a VIP Headquarters. The public will be kept informed of this and be invited to the opening ceremony. If we are going to be in business, then we must be prepared to do business and in this case---it is the People’s business," he said last evening, December 8, 2016.

Fahie spoke to the many steps they have already taken since the November 30th internal elections.

"I must inform the public that we have already increased communications within the party and we are having frank, fair and productive talks with the different arms of the party. These talks will soon mushroom to include the wider public because it is only through effective communications can we find common ground that will allow unity and solutions to be realized," he said.

The First District Representative added, "Only through respect for each other and continuous dialogue where we can agree to disagree will allow us to close all divides while multiplying our efforts thereby maximizing results."

They have also started the process of revitalizing the different arms of the party including public relations team, women arm, and youth arm.

"The Virgin Islands Party will be a Party for all and not just a selected few. We will have an opened door policy. In a few days we will have a casual social evening where all Virgin Islands Party supporters and interested persons will be welcomed to be a part of our first initiative geared towards inclusion and unity," Fahie indicated.

He said that they are also in the process of forming a Fund-Raising Committee to raise funds to pay all outstanding vendors in a timely manner, "while at the same time build up the funds that will be needed for the on-going movement of building a better Virgin Islands when you elect the VIP as your next Government."

Residents were told that clearly, the VIP will need their prayers, support and guidance now more than ever as they seek their support to elect a VIP Government during the next General Elections.

"We recognize that the challenge ahead is huge but yet small compared to the size of your desire for change and small compared to the size of our God and our belief in Him. This movement that has started will not be deterred by fear, bribery or any ungodly attempts to keep us in bondage economically and as a people," he noted.

"Freedom is calling and together with your newly refueled VIP we will answer and let freedom have its way without any strings attached."

Fahie assured that the newly refueled VIP is now on the road of getting back to the purpose it was formed in 1971 by 'our' political forefathers: For the People, by the People and of the People.

"Together we will rise again! This refueling of the torch is so that it can burn brighter and longer than ever so that the new path to prosperity will be seen and realized by all in these beautiful Virgin Islands," the VIP leader said.
