(PLTM) - Nikhoy Phillip, who was previously on bail for drug related charges, had that very bail revoked after he appeared before the Magistrate’s Court today, December 2, charged again with possession of a controlled drug, namely 38 grams of Marijuana with a street value of $280.

The accused, who is now detained at Her Majesty's Prison, pleaded not guilty to the offence, which stemmed from an incident on November 30.

He was previously granted bail of $20,000 after he was charged with the possession of 14.2 grams of marijuana, which carries a street value of $142. This incident occurred on May 13.

In explanation, the accused told the court that the drug does not belong to him, noting that the allegations read are not the truth.

In his defense, he stated that after being arrested, he told the officers to take his fingerprints in efforts of tracing him to their findings, but the results of that never came back to him.

As outlined by the Crown, on November 30 in Purcell Estates, officers observed a group of young men in the vicinity of the basketball court. Having identified the officers, one of the men yelled “police”, signaling their presence, and a chase ensued.

While chasing the accused, officers saw him toss a plastic over the wall, landing in the yard of the Community Centre. The bag was said to contain the illegal substance.

Under police questioning, Phillip told the officers, “I don’t know where that came from.”

He is scheduled to make another appearance on January 9 when both matters will be addressed.
