(PLTM) - Khalisha Stoutt, a former employee of Caribbean Cellars was charged with theft after she was found with her co-worker’s missing iPhone 6s, valued at $1000. Stoutt made an appearance at the Magistrate’s Court on November 25. According to the particulars of the matter disclosed by Crown Counsel Melissa Brewley, the phone, which was bought on June 4, was left on the desk of the complainant on June 8th while he went to attend to his regular duties in the establishment’s warehouse. Upon his return, the phone was missing. Having questioned his co-workers, including the accused, they all denied having any knowledge of the whereabouts of the phone. On August 16, the complainant observed Stoutt with a new phone, very similar to the one he had lost. He called for assistance from the authorities. Under police questioning, Stoutt claimed that the phone was given to her by her boyfriend, following his travel to Puerto Rico. A thorough search of the phone revealed that the serial number matched that of the purchase box belonging to the complainant. It was at this point Stoutt came clean and stated that she saw the phone and took it up. She added that she waited a while before using it. She was offered bail in the sum of $30,000 with one surety. She will make another appearance at the Magistrate’s Court on February 3rd 2017.
