(PLTM) - 34 year-old George Bradshaw, who has been on dialysis for the last seven years, was apprehended for having in his possession, 44 grams of marijuana.

In an appearance earlier today, November 17 at the Magistrate’s Court, Bradshaw pleaded guilty to the charge.

During mitigation, the accused, who is a BVIslander, informed the court that the drug was for his personal use. He also refuted the Crown’s statement, informing the court that what was alleged is not the truth.

“I didn’t hesitate to tell the officers what was in my bag. I told them I had weed and my medication.”

As read by Crown Counsel Herbert Potter, on September 3 in the vicinity of Crafts Alive in Road Town, officers observed suspicious behavior by the accused, while he was seated on a bike with a black bag on his back.

In conducting a search, the accused allegedly told the officers that he had medication in his bag. The search yielded several dime bags containing cannabis.

The Crown's report also noted the accused telling the officers, “That’s some weed. That’s what I do for a living.”

Bradshaw was offered $40,000 bail with signed surety, and was ordered to enroll in the counselling and drug treatment course.

He is expected to make another appearance on January 27, 2017.
