According to court records from the Magistrate's Court, it is alleged that a witness, who was also an alleged target, told police that he saw Boynes firing a gun in the alley on the night of the shooting.

He claimed that the shots were targeting both him (the witness) and Prentice, and they both ran for safety. Subsequently, Prentice collapsed upon reaching the centre of Waterfront Drive, while the witness fled in the direction of Nagico building.

According to the allegations, Boynes fled the scene on foot after discharging several rounds.

Boynes has denied the allegations and has also provided an alibi.
