(PLTM) - An off duty police officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is alleging that Simeon Pope threatened to shoot him because of a matter he was investigating involving Pope.

In an appearance on September 23 at the Magistrate’s Court, Pope pleaded not guilty to the charge of threatening language, noting that he never and will never utter such words to anyone.

According to the allegations, on April 10th 2016, the complainant saw the accused sitting on a rail at Bobby’s Supermarket in Road Town. As the complainant approached the entrance of the establishment, the accused quickly took his phone from his pocket and said, “I will pay somebody to shoot him.” The complainant ignored the accused.

It is further alleged that when the officer exited the supermarket, Pope continued, "I will shoot you mother******.”

Sometime after, while the complainant was leaving Sea Cows Bay, he saw Pope in the vicinity of Island Department Store, on the left side. The court heard that Pope was seen making hand signs of a gun in the direction of the complainant.

In another incident, Pope allegedly followed the complainant while driving on the main road through Road Town, overtook him and stopped abruptly in the middle of the road, directly in front of the complainant.

Pope proceeded and allegedly drove in a zig zag motion, which prevented the complainant from overtaking him.

The court heard that Pope pulled over in the vicinity of Dolphin Discovery and told the complainant, “You better stop it. I will shoot you mother******.”

Under police questioning, Pope allegedly told officers he never threatened or followed anyone.

He was offered bail in the sum of $10,000 signed surety, and will make another appearance on December 9th.
