(PLTM) - Oran ‘Tantrum’ Jones of Purcell Estate was charged for the offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after he beat another male who he claimed was trespassing in his neighbourhood.

Jones made an appearance before the Magistrate's Court last Friday, September 9th, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The details of the matter, which occurred on November 27th, 2013, state that both the defendant and the complainant met in the vicinity of the New Testament Daycare in Purcell Estate.

Allegedly, the complainant, who was riding a bike at the time, was approached by Jones and was asked to leave his [Jones] neighborhood.

The court heard that after the complainant did not comply with the demand, Jones pushed him to the ground, took his bike and threw it on the street.

Jones proceeded to beat the complainant and bit him on the right hand.

The altercation was broken up by a friend of the defendant, and the complainant made his way off.

Later that very day, the defendant reportedly met the complainant again while heading to Johnson’s Gut and he punched him above the right eye, causing him to fall.

Following a report made to officers by the victim, Jones told officers that the two were in a fight. He declined to give a verbal statement.

He was offered bail in the amount of $50,000 with two sureties and is ordered to report to the Road Town Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm.

He is scheduled to make another appearance at the Magistrate’s Court on November 25th 2016.
